My research career

My current position, since December 1, 2021, is senior researcher in the recognized research group CAMBIUM (Duques de Soria campus, University of Valladolid). I have recently declined a Community of Madrid Talent attraction contract (modality 1) in the 2020/2021 call in which I was selected in final resolution. It should be noted that since November 2017 and until December 31, 2020, I have worked as Senior Scientist in the group "Impacts and Risks of Climate Change in the Anthropocene" (C-CIA), at the Institute of Environmental Sciences (ISE) of the University of Geneva (Switzerland). There, my line of research for 3 years has been focused on the field of forest ecology, specifically on the analysis of global change impacts in natural and managed forest systems around the world. From January 11, 2021 to November 30, 2021, I have enjoyed a 1-year postdoctoral contract in competitive call of the University of Salamanca's own program. Previously I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Alcalá (4 years and 11 months in projects, and 1 year and 6 months in competitive call of the own program of postdoctoral contracts) and at the Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity of Chile (international competitive call, 2 years).

My research

I study forest responses to spatial and temporal gradients of climate variability. These responses can occur at the level of individual plants, populations or communities, and all of these can generate changes at the ecosystem level. I am also interested in understanding whether changes occur permanently or momentarily, and to what extent diversity can act as a portfolio capable of providing stability in the face of changes in climate.

My vision is to try to understand how changes in climate can modify the composition, structure and functioning of forests and, with it, the provision of goods and services to human populations.
