Career Development

The European Framework for Research Careers (2011) distinguishes and describes four general profiles on the professional development of researchers, which are independent of any particular sector (universities, research institutes, funding agencies, companies or ONGs):

JUNIOR RESEARCHER (R1)

>>> Until you get your Ph (PhD).

RECOGNIZED RESEARCHER (R2)

>>> Holders of a doctorate or its equivalent who are not yet fully independent.

ESTABLISHED RESEARCHER (R3)

>>> Researchers who have developed a level of independence.

LEADING RESEARCHER (R4)

>>> Researchers who are leaders in their area or field of research.
