1. PROMOTION OF RESEARCH CAREERS
- Approve a career development plan for the teaching and research staff at the University of Valladolid.
- Approve regulations for the management of research staff hired under labor contracts.
- Consolidate and enhance the evaluation system for the research activity of teaching and research staff.
- Consolidate the University of Valladolid’s own talent recruitment programs and support the continuity of contracts for accredited researchers, facilitating their integration into the teaching and research workforce.
- Support the Doctoral School in the training and internationalization of early-stage researchers and their incorporation into transnational networks, encouraging the attainment of doctoral degrees with international distinction.
2. PROMOTION OF EMERGING AND EXCELLENCE RESEARCH AREAS
- Develop research programs in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, digital health, and other areas with significant scientific and societal impact.
- Support the consolidation and growth of research structures in emerging areas, promoting their integration into national and international networks.
- Promote interdisciplinary research and the strengthening of areas of excellence by supporting calls that finance collaborative projects among leading structures and centers.
- Support the acquisition of research projects through competitive calls by providing advice and resources to improve the competitiveness of proposals.
- Incentivize research structures to attract personnel through competitive calls funded by external sources.
3. STRENGTHENING RESEARCH RESOURCES
- Modernize laboratories and analytical services through the Instrumental Techniques Laboratory, providing scientific and technical support to the UVa university community, as well as to other public research organizations and private companies.
- Construct and launch the new Surgical Area within the current Imaging and Surgical Module of the Research and Animal Welfare Service.
- Optimize the use of scientific equipment by offering its utilization as shared resources through central technical services.
- Develop digital management platforms to facilitate the administration of projects, resources, and data, improving accessibility and traceability of information.
- Modernize the UVaDoc repository to increase the visibility and accessibility of scientific output, and promote training activities for teaching and research staff through the UVa Library, focusing on new trends and fundamentals in scientific evaluation.
4. IMPROVEMENT OF MANAGEMENT AND RESEARCH SUPPORT SERVICES
- Optimize administrative processes to reduce waiting times and improve efficiency and transparency in management.
- Develop management information systems to facilitate the administration of contracts, service commission compensation, and activity certification, reducing bureaucratic burden.
- Incorporate artificial intelligence into research administration processes, in collaboration with the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching Innovation and Digital Transformation.
- Develop training programs for research support staff to improve their skills and efficiency in managing administrative processes.
- Provide the research support service with the necessary personnel, resources, and spaces to strengthen research management efforts.
5. DISSEMINATION, VISIBILITY, OPEN SCIENCE, AND ETHICS IN RESEARCH
- Promote open science policies by encouraging access to research publications and data through institutional repositories and specialized platforms.
- Develop data storage and management strategies in accordance with FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), ensuring their reuse and compatibility.
- Strengthen the dissemination of research results and scientific outreach, ensuring quality and providing advice and training to teaching and research staff, in coordination with the UVa Library, UVa Press, and the Unit for Scientific Culture and Innovation.
- Update the UVa Journals Portal platform managed by UVa Press, develop a guide for the new version, and train journal managers in its use.
- Consolidate the activity of the ethics committees in research (CII, CEISH, CEEBA, and CBS), ensuring their proper functioning and reinforcing the dissemination of their guidelines and recommendations through the Technical Secretariat.
