I was one of 120 people selected nationally by DBT India to pursue a degree in Biotechnology at Govind Ballabh Pant University, then I got CSIR-NET/JRF India (national fellowship with lecturer accreditation) for my career development in research and teaching. Then, I got an international fellowship and moved to Spain at the University of Granada to do a Masters and PhD in Molecular and Cellular Immunology.
In 2008, I was hired by the General Foundation of the University of Valladolid to work as a Research Fellow, and then as a Senior PhD Researcher, and in 2022, the University of Valladolid as a Distinguished Senior Researcher.
I have participated as PI and collaborators of research projects, and teaching innovation with national and international participation, director of doctoral theses, TFM and TFG. I am evaluator and coordinator of evaluators of national, European and international projects (Argentina etc), I have also participated in several, therefore, I managed to publish articles in scientific journals with good IF in the area of ophthalmology, and most of them are cited in a good number in the works of other researchers.
Three patents, two licensed to companies, one patented innovation is included in the ISO 16672 standard to achieve votes in favour of ISO member countries, which has generated more than 25 project contracts from different companies nationally and internationally so far.
I have many years of experience in the management and development of R&D&I collaboration agreements with different national and international entities and companies, project management, seminar coordinator, organiser, key speaker, chairperson of international events (congresses, symposiums and webinars etc).
Study the development of treatments based on cell therapy and regenerative medicine for retinal diseases, which requires the planning and testing of new approaches based on biopolymers, drugs, stem cells and secretome, identifying the mechanisms and bioactive molecules involved by performing in vitro and in vivo assays, as well as to improve and propose new methodologies for testing products and new approaches.
My vision is that my contribution to research can bring effective treatments to patients who lack them.
